Jamiks Scrapbooking and Photography Studio Class

It has been a mad house here, I have fallen off the bandwagon the last week with my photo a day for August that I have been playing along with. I have been taking photos, but not of the prompts that Kim has been giving us for no reason other than I haven't had the time to jump on the computer check what we are prompted and them photograph and upload!! I have been painting Maddisons room, so have been very focused on doing that rather than sitting on the computer, you know, before you know it you are surfing the www and not getting anything else done, so as hard as it was i left the computer off!! Mmmm not sure what I will do there! Might play catch up or just include my pics I have been taking so I have a pic a day to scrap at the end of August. Its all about taking pics I guess and Kim has certainly managed to get me doing that again :0)

Annnnnyway.......I am off to Tully this weekend for a fun class at Jamiks Photography and Scrapbooking Studio.

Here is a little sneaky peak of some bits, we will be painting, stamping, using rubons, using our packaging as elements in our creations and generally having a good time :0)

Karyn always has a generous and very enticing kit to play with and its the little extras that really get your creative juices flowing :0) There is a couple of layouts for the class and when we chose the ribbon for the class Karyn said she would present it on a cute little dolly peg. i just couldn't resist making it into a real little dolly ;0)

A card or two including using our packaging as elements.

With the leftover........

Instead of another layout I have made a little photo stands out of stationery clips (can't remember the correct name?? bulldog clips??? not sure!) using the leftover bits and pieces from tomorrows class at Jamiks in Tully.  I remember seeing this idea quite some time ago, but just can't remember where, either bloghopping or reading a mag.

Amazing to think that the flower is made from a piece of paper that started the size of a small dinner plate!!

I'm sure some are thinking i have dissappeared off the face of the earth!! Thankyou to those who took the time to email and query whether I was still in fact with the land of the living!! ;0)

I have just been super busy and blogging just took a very back seat.

However I do have some pics to post for the lovely lassies at Tully who are coming to play on Saturday at Jamiks Scrapbooking and Photography studio.

39 stitches

Hello, an update for my 39 stitches, square # 8, is inspired by my class down in Tully on the weekend, its the little album we made, i included a pic of the real thing below, just in case this one doesn't make sense.  The kids knew what it was so thats a good sign, LOL!! 

I love that you can still get lots of dimension with the sitching, like the little "hinged rings" below on the mini album. Btw, "Floss" is my nickname, just in case you were wondering about my spelling credentials, LOL!!

And this one, Square #9, my Dell laptop, which I guess without it I would not have stumbled across this very project. Really wanted to put the letters on the keys, but you know, it was just TOOOOO tiny;0)

Square # 10 is the bowl of bananas and oranges.
 

I've nearly finished # 11, am just about to go and settle in front of the tele and sew.

A little "thankyou" to Mel Goodsell for her very kind words, thanks Mel :0), It was while browsing her blog and being inspired by her and Bella's stitching that i decided to have a go, and i must say I am loving it. Can't wait to see everyones FINISHED pieces ;0)

okay Survivor is on, (I am addicted!!) off to sew.

A collage of pics from Jamiks class

Hello :0) I'm back to share some of yesterdays class.

Yesterday was no exception, as we always do, we spent a lovely day together down at Jamiks, I took lots of photos this time, which normally I don't get time to, mmm was I not working hard enough, I had time yesterday, LOL!! I decided to put them into a collage.

I have also put them in an album on the left hand sidebar so you  can go check them out just click on the link and then if you click on the photos they will come up to full size. 

I just couldn't resist showing you these delectable little beauties below, don't they look good enough to eat!! Well I thought so ;0) They are actually soaps!!

We get very spoilt when we go to Jamiks, Karyn always goes out of her way to add a special little touch every lesson, in this case everyone got a soap and little easter eggs on arrival. 

Thanks for another wonderful day Karyn and all the girls and a special thanks to the lovely Lynley who bought orchard flowers fresh from her garden for the teacher ;0)

Okay i am off to sew.

39 Stitches square 6 & 7

No time for stitching yesterday and too tired last night!!

Square 6 and 7 I completed on Friday night...

Its my sewing machine!! Its been sitting on the kitchen table in full view of where I sit and sew, what I love about this project is that you can just freehand sew and do whatever you want, no following charts or anything :0).

As well as having a golfing son we also look out onto the golf course everyday as we live beside it, so again where I sit and sew it is in full view out the back door.

And so far

I actually have 5 squares wide by 8 high, so i really need to not be lazy and move the hoop tonight so i can finish off 1 full row I think!!

I'm going like crazy today to get all my chores done so I can get onto sewing tonights square, its something to do with the class we had in Tully yesterday!

I will be back later to share some photos from Jamiks yesterday.

Down to Jamiks Photography & Scrapbooking Studio for a fun filled class of crafting :0)

We are making 2 little books to do with as you wish. One staying within the confines of the little Kaiser book blanks and the other going outside of the confines.

We will be punching and inking and altering our little flowers, of course using the faboulous Fiskars tools, which i will bring with me. you can see a few in the top right hand corner, and just looking at them while i type, i realise i have left out a few more important ones, border punches, zig-zag scissors and twist and flip corner punch.  Mmmm think i had better write a list so i don't forget!!

Thanks to American Fiskars Lead Ambassador Rebecca Peck I will also have one of those cute little Fiskars scissor pins that you can see in the bottom right hand corner for each class participant. Rebecca very kindly sent a little package over to the Aussie Ambassadors with all sorts of goodies inside.

Jamiks Photography and Scrapbooking Studio Tully Class

Hello!!

My apologies for the lateness of this post, i wasn't having much luck photographing our class, wasn't happy so did them again, mmm still not happy but here they are!! Could do with some photography lessons i would think ;0)

So converting layouts to card and vice versa, 2 layouts, 2 ++ cards.....

Still have some glossy accents to add the finishing touches.

These should come together quite quickly and easily, they did for me, miracle!!! The first layout doesn't have the photos added yet, still have to print them off.

It isn't necessary to bring photos to the class as we are concentrating on getting 4 items finished to take home and you will be able to very succesfully add your photos later!!

Tully girls are you ready???

We are making this on Saturday 10.10.09, this weekend!!

Be ready to play and have your patience hat on ;0)!! You will have a ball!!

These papers are suited to anything really so if you don't want to use nature photos, that is perfectly fine!!

I am going to give you the measurements of the photos i have used, most of them have been cropped.

Photo 1 - 15cms x 9cms

Photo 2 - 11cms x 10cms

Photo 3 - 15cms x 10cms

Photo 4 - 10cms x 11.5cms

Photo 5 - 7.5cms x 10cms

Photo 6 - 7.5cms x 10cms

I can hear you, yes I can,  stop groaning and calling me names at those odd measurements ;0)

As i said this is what i have used, obviously if we all had the same photos we could crop them the same, BUT as this won't be the case there are going to be some different sizes and that to is perfectly fine :0)

If you are comfortable to crop now before the class, feel free otherwise we will take care of it in class on Saturday, but work on 5 or 6 photos, extra pages and photos can be added later at home if you wish.

If you are going to call your album something different or if you are going to have a different quote on the back, have a think about it now so that you don't waste time worrying about it on Saturday. If you come with it written down and have worked out how many "a's", "b's", "c's" etc in the title, it will make it much easier for you. I guess what i am trying to say is it is a fairly involved class, the more organised we are the better.

Jamiks Photography and Scrapbooking Studio Tully

I have been working away busily getting the next class at Jamiks ready, and if an acrylic album is on your list of things to experience then maybe this one is for you:0)

Karen stocks the entire Kaiser range at Jamiks in Tully and the beauty of this is you can mix an match with other lines as well. All products except for the paper and ribbon are Kaiser - easy to work with and come up a treat:0)

I hope you enjoy looking :0)...

 

If your like me and have lots of photos of flower, nature, insects, scenery photos, now is the time to get them into this acrylic Kaiser album.

This class will be full of techniques, you will learn how to incorporate your product packaging into your work, for instance the alphabet paper above is packaging, the tag in photos 1 and 4 are also packaging, altered to suit our album, and the plastic case in which your alpha stickers come, will be repurposed to make a pouch to keep your album safe!!

The paper is very versatile, so if nature photos aren't your thing, not a problem, really any photos would suit, a special event, birthdays, kids - anything goes.

I'm always in trouble for not showing enough detail with what the class will be, so I hope this long photo post does the trick ;0)

More for you from the Jamiks class kit.....

Hello!!

Well after packing away or should i say "starting to pack away" the leftover product from the class kit for Jamiks, i decided on Friday night at about 8.30pm to see what else i could get out of the leftover product.

Here they are....

 

3 cards (I think the girls actually got 4 in their kits) I have used the leftover scraps of paper lying on the table, I have used the other half of the journalling blocks that i used on the right hand side of the layout you can see here. Because there were lots of bits and pieces i have inked everything around the edges with pinecone ink, to pull it all together.

The alphas out of this kit come up beautifully sanded.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

and they do most of the time, lol!!

So not bad hey, 3 layout and 3 cards out of 1 kit and still a sheet of paper and some embellishments and alphas left over!!

Happy with that.

We had a great time at the class - as always a great bunch of girls and a very generous host - Karyn :0)

A lovely email from a class member last night to say how much she enjoyed it and looked forward to the next one - a great way to end the day, thanks N :0)

JAMIKS THIS SATURDAY.... A LAYOUT

Phew!!!!

Finally i have finished!!!

Sorry Tully girls i am really dragging the chain this week, this is what we will create.....

The title inspired by this song  can be interpreted however you see fit, and if you really don't want to take a photo of yourself girls, (but I hope you do) then you could slot another photo of kids, partners etc in.

Go on be brave, if i can do it you can, black and white hides all sorts of things, lol!! hold the camera at arms length, nice and tall and click - its that simple!! Take heaps and then choose the one you like.

We take photos of everyone else but rarely ourselves as we are usually weilding the camera, so this is your chance, after all regardless of what we think our kids will want photos of us as well as them. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So you will need a 7"x 5" photo or a couple of photos that will fit into this measurement or thereabouts.

Your general toolkit details can be found HERE as well as any other specific class requirements for the day.

EDITED TO SAY: THIS CLASS IS EXTREMELY GENEROUS WITH PRODUCT AND YOU WILL HAVE PLENTY LEFTOVER TO MAKE AT LEAST 3 CARDS AND MORE! AND I WILL HAVE SOME EXAMPLES WITH ME FROM LEFTOVER PRODUCT.

JAMIKS THIS SATURDAY WE ARE MAKING THIS ...........

Finally i have finished and look forward to sharing a class with you this Saturday down at Jamiks Studio in Tully.

A set of 3 mini canvases that you can have as a freestanding frame on your table or with a bit of ribbon added you can make it into a piece of art to hang on your wall - the choice is yours.:0) You could even use them as front covers to a set of 3 mini albums!!

Included is a simple little concertina album under a flap that has 4 little photos measuring approx 3.5cms x 5cms as well as one on the middle canvas. I got these printed at Office Works in Cairns - DON'T PANIC if you haven't got photos of this size, you can simply add them later if you do want to get them printed or you can crop some down to a similar size.

We will be doing a wee bit of stamping, cutting, doodling the odd border, making our own flower embelishments and adding dimension with uppey tape. As we are using double sided papers, you may wish to mix them up to suit yourself, plenty of room for creative individuality if you wish in this class. (is that a word, lol!!?)I have updated the what to bring to class page, You can check it out here.
