Kid Art.....Treasure it......
Theres just something about the little drawings the kids do, i just can't bare to part with them.
Recently our youngest and only girl Maddison, affectionately known as "Moo or Mooi" borrowed a book from the library that gave tips on how to draw whimsy looking people. She emerged from her bedroom an how later and handed over her drawings. Well i guess i am biased but I was absolutely thrilled with her little creations and they have been tucked away waiting for me to put into a little book.
This is what she presented..........
I then hand drew black borders around each shape - all odd as she had them randomly drawn everywhere!
I then cut each one out.
For the book i cut tags out of black bazzill using the tag template and ultra shapexpress. To make the little book strong i doubled the pages, stuck them together using glue.
I adhered all the pics to the pages before assembling the book. For the little name tags i used the new "seal of approval" squeeze punch cut in half, like Donna used HERE on her birthday card for the scallops, i too have used it in a similar way on layouts to form a scallop border, and have been happy with the end result. I think this squeeze punch will go into the list of favourites!
I then piled the pages nice and neatly on top of each other and ran glue up and down the spine with my fingers, i repeated this a couple of times once each layer was dry just as extra reinforcement.
To make the little cover i used the tag template this time to draw the tag outline, i then measured the width of the spine (of my pages joined together) and added this to the straight edge of the drawn tag template. Then onto the opposite end i drew another tag template. So in actual fact you join 2 tags together down the short straight edge allowing the spine measurement in the middle. Cut this out.
Again running glue down the spine stick your pages onto your cover but only down the spine bit, its best to score on each side of the spine so the cover sits and wraps perfectly around your pages. You then line inside the back and front covers with Heidi Grace Sweetest Bug/Sweet Stripes double sided cardstock paper. These pieces are made by drawing around the tag template joining 2 short straight edges together and cut out with scissors.
Then all thats left to do is embellish. I chose to keep this to bare minimum through the book so as not to take away from Moois art work.
Are you still with me lol!!
Have a great weekend everyone.
