I can't believe i'm showing you my gorgeous toes so close-up!!

I thought i would share a layout on journalling with you.

I guess we are all inspired in different ways and create in different ways and for that matter different locations.

For me this layout was inspired while i was on holidays at the beach over easter. I had very limited supplies, i hadn't even remembered to take any sort of adhesive!! I had no photos as i wasn't intending to scrap, i did however have all my clear stamps, black stazon ink, my Steadler triplus fineliner pens and some white bazzill!! I scrounged around in the cupboard and found some black electrical tape, first time i have ever used it in scrapping, but i actually did 2 layouts with it and was quite happy with the results!!

Firstly i had no idea what i was going to do, so i decided to do a heading in my own hand "journalling", and decided to just see where that took me. I then stamped over it using the little flower stamp from "heidi grace - Reagans Closet" clear stamps, then i headed off down to the beach and sat with my friend under the trees and began to colour-in and cut out.

This was my creative space, lol, how can you not enjoy the process when you are in this environment!!

 

Kicking back in my banana lounge, i was doing my title....

 

All this was happening around me....

 

 

I found it quite ironic that i didn't have 1 photo to scrap with, but the whole time i was there, i was snapping away with my camera, in between colouring in, and not moving off my bottom ;0)

Anyway, I finished and cut out the title down at the beach, and then i completed the layout that night in the caravan.

 

this is my "pretend" photo that i made using the Fiskars flip n'flop clear stamps. Do you suppose i was inspired by my surroundings, lol!! Black electrical tape bordered my "photo", oh and just to be clear, i do NOT get around in a yellow polka dot bikini of that size, lol!!

This was going to be my layout and i grabbed a leftover piece of cardstock to do a bit of journalling that i was originally going to stick on the back. For someone who struggles with the journalling part, i did okay ;0) so i decided to put it on the front and make it into a little door like this...

 

 

I just added the little tab this morning, had to wait till i got home to get some double sided tape!! I simply punched half a medium squeeze punch cirlce and drew the little scalloped edge, coloured and cut around and attached to the door.

 

So i hope i have inspired you to have a fun approach to journalling, just start with something and see where it takes you with no rules attached

Inkurable stampers April Challenge

Hello!!

Finally i have found a spare minute to upload my challenge for the Inkurable Stampers April challenge which is:

TO USE THE INKURABLE STAMPERS BLOG COLOURS OF ORANGE, BLACK AND WHITE IN YOUR PROJECT.

Well i did have something else in mind when i was thinking about this challenge but that all went by the wayside and this is what i ended up doing.....

 

I completed this with very limited supplies on hand while on holidays at our caravan. I wasn't planning on doing any scrapping but i did take some new and old stamps down and some black stazon ink as well as my Steadler triplus fineliner pens (love these pens!!) I was intending to do some stamping, really just mucking around.

I didn't have any adhesive of any shape or form, so i scrounged around in the cupboard and came up with some black electrical tape, thats what gave me the idea to work a page for Sarahs challenge, so the black thick lines you can see are electrical tape.

 

I have been quite taken with the twinchie challenge that was one of the challenges from the Inkurable Stampers Cybercrop weekend, but unfortunately i just didn't get time to do any, you can see the fantastic entries here. So I decided to randomly grab whatever stamps were on my desk and to use them each in a twinchie. I literally closed my eyes and grabbed. Coloured in with orange, stuck down with electrical tape and the big numbers were cut from an old "Madison" magazine that was floating around. I added some stamped flowers in black, again coloured them in orange and added a hand drawn doodle on the bottom left and a bit of journaling to explain what i did.

I enjoyed playing just for fun and with limited things on hand and to use non scrapping items.

Egg day!!

Chocolate has been consumed by all!!

Going hunting for that savoury taste now :0)

we have just taken part in a big easter egg hunt that was put on by the caravan park, Ken and the kids have been digging for a good hour, they were hidden well!! The manager of the park was out hiding eggs at 3.00am this morning on the beach, and man did he do a good job!!

 

 

 

Daddy kept digging till he found and egg for Christopher, Maddison and their 2 mates.

My photo of the day for Moois album are yesterdays (11th)..

 

We were mucking around taking really closeup shots of mooi and when we saw this one we all couldn't stop laughing!! Christopher told her she looked like a lama which made her laugh even more, so when i asked her whether or not she wanted to include it in her photo a day album, she said yes!!

 

And this one is todays photo of the day - mooi with her easter bunny which she named Bhree and the little baby easter bunny she won in the egg hunt.

Happy birthday Nanna and a photo of the day catch up

 

Maddison has done some beach art for Nanna's birthday, so hopefully Nanna has her laptop down at the caravan for easter so she can get this birthday message. Hope you're having a great day :0)

As i type we are down the caravan at the beach for easter and the school holidays, so for 10 days in total, yee ha!! Thought i would update you with my photos of the day, all based around Maddison. This one for Nanna below is going to be my Day 10 photo. Mooi with her creation.

 

Photo of the Day for April 3rd - Maddison LOVES all things fluffy, that beautiful sof, foofy feel is something she loves to have next to her skin.

Photo of the Day - april 5th is Mooi cooking, she has been enjoying baking alot lately. 

Photo of the Day - April 6th, This is how Maddison starts her day, half a weetbix. After having 3 boys that eat like theres no tomorrow it is very different having a little girl who eats like a litttle bird!

Photo of the day - April 9th, this is the finished product, and i can't wait to get stuck into them!! To give you an idea of the size, they are coffee and tea cups that the eggs are sitting in they made 8 altogether!!

 

I know Lee has been chasing the recipe for the chocky slice, and i will also post the easter egg recipe just in case anyone is interested, over the next couple of days.

Some more photos from our busy weekend.

Our eldest son Nick has gone back to playing footy this year. On Sunday we made the treck over the range to a place called Yarrabah. Yarrabah is an Aboriginal Community over on the coast, an absolutely stunning position.

Well heres our team having a suck on the water bottles while Yarrie kicks for conversion!! buggar!! It was a pretty hot day, 32 degrees and a 12 midday game, not really an ideal time.

  

Heres our feral headed boy, lol;0). Try to convince him to tie back those dreadlocks and i'm sure he would be ten degrees cooler!!

Not sure what the score ended up but we didn't win :0(.

Jesse was out on the reef for a sleepover night with a friend and his dad, in their boat, on the water for the whole night!! Not my idea of fun, but heaven to him. They got a good feed of fish which were bought home for Dad and Chris to clean as Jesse was running a tight schedule and had to be on the golf course for a comp!! What a life this boy has. so Chris is showing off a few of the fish, Chase the dog sat watching like he was a kid sitting listening to a teacher, you would've sworn he was going to jump straight up and grab the knife himself and start filleting the fish!

  

  

these were a couple of the smaller ones, enough fish fillets to feed our family (6) for a couple of dinners.

  

MMm probably should have swung that last photo around, but you get the gist, lol!!

A busy weekend

in the Hanigan household.

Christopher, Maddison and myself spent Saturday attending the Mulgrave River Bridge opening. A new bridge has been built over the river that we pass over 2 times every day and have done so for the last13 years to and from school.

We have watched every day the progress and on Saturday the official opening took place. The company building the bridge supplied buses to and from the river so that we could walk across before it is open to traffic next week

Various competitions have been run in the local community to encourage community involvement. The kids from years 1 to 4 had to make model bridges, Maddison fell into this category.

The  older kids years 4 - 7 had the chance to participate in a poetry competition about the Mulgrave River and the new bridge, with the winner having their poem attached to the bridge on a special plaque.  With quite a few schools participating it was our school that took out 1st and 2nd place and......

drumroll please!!!!

While he didn't come third, Christopher got runner up, woo hoo!! He was a little sad, he really wanted his poem on the bridge ;0) The local paper also run a competition for 4 people to be the first over the bridge in these lovely old cars (wasn't us, cause i forgot to enter that one, lol!!) Anyway here are some pics of the day.

 

The company also supplied icy poles and bottles of water which went down very well. I have to say, this was the only photo i got with Maddison, quite a few of her school mates went too and all i could see was her skipping along way out in front, going from side to side and looking over the edge, not staying 1 metre from the rails and being supervised by her responsible parent as requested by the organisers. I was a litte miffed at her, after all this will be a historical moment one day in the future ;0)

  

  

  

this is Chris looking down on the old bridge, which when it was built they said would never flood, it goes way over!!

  

this is looking upstream and when this floods, which is a good couple of times a year, the water comes half way up the trees on the left, an amazing amount, you have to see it to believe it. this is also a popular swimming spot, well it was until one of the bridge workers spotted a croc in there a couple of weeks back, so now there is a nice big "no swimming, crocodiles" sign up and no-one swims there anymore.

  

  

Of course you couldn't have a bridge opening without the pollies!! Chris spent some time dancing around behind here, (much to my horror!!) trying to get his face on camera, we will have to watch the news tomorrow night to see whether he succeeded!!

And well last but not least a Shadow shot for Hey Harriet, just couldn't resist ;0)

  

Well that was most of our Saturday, i do have more photos from the weekend, but you've probably all dozed off by now ;0)

No 8 Wired - NZ Dares

I thought i would share a few things with you as i sit waiting to do the midnight party pickup!!! My eyes are hanging out of my head,the end of the week and i am tired!

I joined in on a game of bingo over at Inkurable Stampers, which was fun, they are celebrating their first birthday with a cybercrop weekend. The first challenge has just been posted, go check it out.

I had a lovely email this week from my fellow Fiskars Ambassador Donna Meuli. Donna is a contributor to a NZ Dare site No 8 Wired - NZ Dares 09 and every fortnight they post a new dare and also invite a guest designer to participate in the dare, and this week it was me:0)

I was thrilled that she thought of me, (thanks Donna ;0) ) and well you know, i love a challenge!!  It is the traffic light challenge, be sure to go and have a look, and why not have a go, heres the Link its dare number 65 and this is my take on it.

As soon as i read Donna's dare i thought of a song that Chris learnt at preschool, actually i couldn't get it out of my head!! So that was what inspired me to do my layout like this. I used oil pastels to get the bright vibrant colours.

Its interesting to see the different takes on the same challenge, each persons interpretation is very different from the next.

Ok i have passed a little more time here, another hour and 10 minutes till i have to pick up Nick!!

A photo a day.

Hello!!

Last week i was busy doing up a mini album in step by step form in preparation for our "photo a day theme" over on the Fiskars Blog that looks like this...

 

  

  

It was designed to house 30 photos and a tad of journalling down each side.

If you would like to have a shot at making one you can find the details Here,  Then here, this one, and finally this one. 

I will walk you through the steps of making the album from scratch and using things that you would more than likely have in your stash. Its a great way to use up a mixture of old paper, learn a few tips and techniques along the way and then if it takes your fancy join in the Photo a Day Challenge and have somewhere to house a photo a day for a month.

I have decided to make this album for Maddison so my photos will be based around her. When Christopher found out, he got his nose out of joint a tad, so i am going to surprise him with one just about him also. I had hoped to get one done for all four of the kids, mmm you never know!!
