Hello Shadow Shooters!!

We went down to our caravan again this weekend, so i snapped some pics, i thought only a few but when i just downloaded them i had taken 70!!

This shadow shot is the one i saw first, the one i actually went back to the caravan to get my camera for....

A telegraph pole!! But the bottom part of the image reminds me of a cows head!! Maybe i have good imagination, lol!!

One of the cassowarys was hanging around today, so i snapped some of him to.

Ok well in case you hadn't noticed, this isn't the cassowary!!!! this is our eldest son Nick. When i was just scrolling through deciding on which cassowary photo to upload i noticed this shadow and weeellllll....... i just couldn't resist, lol!!! Can you see the shadow?? Hint.... Nick looks like he has a loveheart coming out of his boardies ;0) The shadow on his back has helped to highlight his bum cheeks which are hanging out the top of his shorts. Hitch em up Nick!!

Not sure whether i mentioned this, but i am hosting the monthly challenge for November over on the Fiskars blog which i just did a little update reminder as it closes on Sunday, so i just thought i would share it here as well in case anyone is interested.

Hi all!!

Just a friendly reminder that you have until Sunday night to get your entries in for the November challenge. I would love to see what you guys can come up with!!

Here are the details just in case you missed or have forgotten ;0).

Remember you can always find current challenges as well as past challenges up on the left hand sidebar, or as Lyn has pointed out in a previous post, use the search button, it will take you wherever you need to go!! (I use it often, its a quick way of finding what you are looking for)

With so many products on the market these days if we can make our product work in more ways than one then i think we have purchased well.  Obviously with our tools most of us do have a good think before we buy, do we REALLY need it, what can i do with it etc.  Well this can also work with your choice of papers and embellishments, especially if we are on a budget.

Packs that include paper, embellishments, alphabet stickers, number stickers and the such, lend them self to a wide variety of uses for cards or scrap pages for all occasions.

So that is going to be my focus for this month - pre-packaged kits straight from the shelf.

So, your challenge for this month is to use either a kit or gather a few supplies together to form your own kit and show us what you can do to make as many cards for different occasions and different genders that you can.  Now if cards aren't your thing, then you can do it with layouts as well.

You have the whole month, and we would love to see what you come up with.  So email your entries to fiskarscraft@yahoo.com.au so the girls can upload them into the online gallery, and be in the running to win a Fiskars prize!!

Here is another set of 10 quick cards using a Cloud 9 Design kit and catering to different occasions and different genders.

If you haven't got a kit, why not pull out some gear from your stash and have a go, pull out a couple of sheets of PP, some alphas, a few embellishments and see what you can come up with!!

shadow shot sunday... and i'm running late !!!

Again.....

hello, i did have some shadow shots ready to go on Saturday, but they went out the door cause we took a quick run down to our caravan on Sunday and there were shadows everywhere, so i will be using those instead!!

It was a stinking hot day up here in Cairns yesterday 37 degrees c, there wasn't even any relief from a plunge in the ocean, it was like a hot bath, however as far as shadows are concerned, perfect conditions, lol. And that is just as important right?  My husband was astounded that i was lying on the grass in the midday sun taking photos!! We then had a big electrical storm last night and lost power for quite some time, so i couldn't post this last night as planned.

So this is where we were, this is on the verandah of our caravan, our view :0)

And all the shadows were taken around here, some looking up through the tarp on our roof and the shadow cast by the palm frond above.

some creating...........

I seem to be so busy of late creating all sorts of bits and bobs for classes, for the Fiskars blog and for a couple of magazine articles,  some i can share and some i can't just yet!!

Here are a few things i have been doing of late. Firstly a couple of classes i did when Ngaire Bartlam joined the Paper Possibilities Retreat to teach some scrapbooking workshops.  If the opportunity arises to create with this lady, then do yourself a favour and slurp it all in!!!! You won't be sorry :0)

this one was a heritage class, but instead i used black and white photos of my eldest son and his twin mates, looking at this now, i feel the need to get some journalling on the bottom left hand side, so shall endeavour to do so.

For some reason, i have it in my head that i HAVE TO HAVE a beaded chrissy tree looking thing for christmas this year!! I don't know whether i have seen it somewhere or how i came to feel the need for it but i did and it just so happens that spotlight had 30% off their white foam thingies on Saturday so i took that as a "it was meant to be" type hint, that it was ok to buy it, lol!! I also purchased 300 berry pins and have just gone back and purchased another 660!! I wanted another 4 packets, but i bought every one on the shelf!!

to say i am happy with it would be an understatement!!! I Loooooove it, even though it isn't yet finished, and i wish you could here the sound that it makes when you give it a very gentle little shake, i almost love that even more ;0)

And do you know who has been creating this masterpiece for me.......

Yep these 2 gems!! Chris and Mooi. I have probably done at the most 10 pins!! Mooi does a fair bit, but Christopher is obsessed, oh dear what have i created, lol!!

Chris stumbles out of bed and sits down bleary eyed to start before he even goes to the toilet in the morning :0)

don't you think they have done an amazing job? I do, i can't wait to see the end result.

Well i do have more photos i was going to share, but it is once again taking forever to upload photos, so i will call it a night.

Shadow Shot Sunday

Is here again!!

I went to black and white this week and snapped these quickly from the back steps before i went off to work yesterday morning, how lazy is that!! (thank goodness for the good old zoom ;0) !!)

Scrapping for a good cause....interested? Read on...

Hi there!!

Well some of you may remember reading about Southern Cross Kids Camp here at the beginning of the year, or maybe you came across it somewhere in blog land, well these are camps that are for kids that are at risk, abused or neglected, a place where they can go for 5 days of respite, to get some much needed love and support and normal kid time.

Fellow scrapper Julie Stone put out the call last year for the scrapping communtiy to help her make 6x6 scrap pages to put together to make an album for each child to have as his or her own keepsake.

Well the time has come to do it again!!!!

You can read all about it HERE, and if you are a likeminded scrapper, i urge you to help out, please!!!

Check out Julies blog (above on the HERE), but for your convenience i have cut and pasted, with Julies permission of course all the details for you below!!!

As far as what is needed, the albums are 6"x6 - 20 pages with one photo per page and it will be approx 5" x 3.5", the rest is up to you, as you may have seen on my blog, simple is by far the best. If you  can include a mat and a journaling spot so the buddies can Journal. As scrappers we understand the importance of including personal journaling and I know these children will benefit so much more if its there.

The number of LO's you can contribute is entirely up to you, we would love to be able to be able to provide for all 9 camps that will be held in  held in Australia & NZ this year. In fact the contribution from last year is on it's way to the NZ camp in Dunedin in preparation for their January 09 camp!! Your contribution would be sorted upon arrival and readied for the next scheduled Camp. Any amount you contribute, be it 1, 20, 40 or 100 will be most gratefully received. (NB If you would like your pages kept together as a set for one Childs book, there will need to be 20 matching pages.)

The LO's you create will be slipped into the sleeves of a 6x6 SEI Album so there is no need for you to worry about punching holes etc. Single page LO's will be most suitable. A quick suggestion would be to stick to two or three designs and vary

the papers a little,that way you can cut out the various components at the same time and set up a little production line. Co-Ordinated is best as you could imagine, it gives the albums a lovely completed feel.

Colours are your choice too, Both Boys & Girls Pages are suitable, although there are a few Girly Girls that come, most of the girls aren't, so bold girl combinations are most suitable( bold flowery papers are perfect),  boys LO's would include, bright primaries and blues, browns, greens etc. Last year we tended to get a much greater percentage of girls pages, if possible, pages that would suit both boys and girls would be ideal, this can be as simple as choosing bright primary papersand leaving the flowers and feminine accents loose for the buddies to attach. However what ever you have or are willing to create will be most gratefully received.

Orientation is both landscape and portrait, although more portrait, you could

either design them to be either way and the buddies could turn the pages to suit  or  just leave the mat loose with each page and i will help the buddies attach them

when needed. Not something to stress about too much as we found most pages could be easily turned to suit.

We still do have quite a few LO's for the January camps but will need your help to make sure we can fill all the Kids books, so a good time to be posting them to my address would be the first week of December 08.  If you don't think you will be able to do much to help by December, please still consider helping out as there are another five camps between March and June 2009 that will require the same pages.

Also we would love to get any left over alphas, ribbons, buttons, stickers etc as now we have seven separate camp sites to cater too, we need multiple items to enable the buddies to decorate the covers of the Kids memory albums, any old stash you may have, we would gladly accept and put to good use.

So as you can see it isn't hard, you get 4 pages out of 1 piece of 12"x12" piece of bazzill, and its a great way to use up your scraps for the photo mat and embellishments.

I am planning on getting some done this weekend so i will post for you to have a look.

Look whats eating our beautiful sunflower :0(

While hanging out the washing this afternoon Chris and I discovered this little bloke eating our sunflower, now while he is very cute and a most beautiful shade of green, I do prefer that he feast somewhere else!!!

Its back to the zoo photos from our trip to Sydney last month and i couldn't go past this handsome fella!!

A pygmy hippo basking in the sun without a care in the world!! What  a life :0). He / she, not sure what "it" was did finally get up to waddle down to its pond.

Shadow Shot Sunday #24

Morning :0)

Well i don't know about you, but sometimes i can sit for ages looking at photos before i even notice that there is a shadow and i find that quite intriguing. I love the shadows that are there for all to see, but i get a kick out of the ones that just appear after you have been staring at the photo for ages, and all of a sudden they are there.  Does that make sense or am I on my own here!!??

Anyway i have been watching a sunflower growing down the back and photographing it in its different stages each day, just for fun.  The kids pulled the sunflower seed out of the birdseed and planted it in the garden.

When i went back and looked over the photos i was pleased with them but after a while i was even more pleased when some of those shadows finally jumped out at me that i didn't initially see.  Maybe they do jump out at you straight up, but they didn't me!!

And yes there is a shadow in each one, and with a couple of these photos i still hadn't seen them until just uploading them now!! They may be subtle but they are there ;0)

A delightful Saturday!!

Well i am on the verandah as i type it is a gorgeous Saturday arvo, I am posting a monthly challenge over on the Fiskars Blog at the same time as doing this, (the photos take sooooo long to load, so i do this in between!!) and thinking about what a lovely morning i have had!! Wow that was a long sentence!!

I had a chrissy card class in at Paper Possibilities this morning and we made these.........

The lovely Lee from Just Like Martha made my morning by bringing me a freshly brewed coffee and a lovely BIG one at that!! She also went to the trouble of bringing homemade chockies for all the girls!! They are a lovely bunch of girls and we had a wonderful time creating, so thanks girls, mornings like that make me happy to do the job i do :0)

This arvo will be spent by the pool having a few quiet Coronas (beer!!) with of course a wedge of lemon!! It was so hot when i left work i had decided that ice cold beer was on the agenda!! Feel like i haven't spoken to my husband all week, as its been one of THOSE ridiculously busy weeks, so we will catch up this arvo!! Gosh i almost have to make a date with my own husband, lol!!!

For all the girls that visit here and the Fiskars blog thankyou for joining our Girls Night In to raise money for Breast Cancer, we had an awesome night and have nearly reached our target of $2000 in donations.  There are still fantastic projects over on the blog so if you are looking for some inspiration then pop on over there and have a look, theres something for everyone!!
